{"id":161,"date":"2014-08-07T18:07:22","date_gmt":"2014-08-07T08:07:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kewgolfclub.com.au\/cms\/the-course\/course-care\/"},"modified":"2026-03-13T15:07:31","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T04:07:31","slug":"course-care","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.kewgolfclub.com.au\/cms\/the-course\/course-care\/","title":{"rendered":"Course Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>TEMPORARY LOCAL RULES<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Preferred Lies on 12<sup>th<\/sup> green, including green surround.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When a ball lies on the putting green or green surround and has interferences ie; old divot or new turf, the player may mark the ball and replace it within one hand span of its original spot, no nearer the hole.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abnormal Course Conditions \u2013 GUR<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Relief <strong><em><u>may<\/u><\/em><\/strong> be taken from the area of Abnormal Course Conditions <strong>encircled by a white line<\/strong> by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>dropping the ball at any nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole; or<\/li>\n<li>dropping the ball within the nearest \u2018Drop Zone\u2019 marked with blue paint and the letters \u2018DZ\u2019, if present.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Practice Range Net &#8211; 11th Hole (Immovable Obstruction)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If the Practice Range Net physically interferes with a player\u2019s intended stance or the area of the intended swing, the player <strong>MAY<\/strong> take relief, with no penalty, by dropping the ball within 1 club length of the nearest blue stake. <strong>Rule 16-1<\/strong> applies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Penalty for breach of rule:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stroke play \u2013 2 strokes<br \/>\nMatch play \u2013 Loss of hole<\/p>\n<h2>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<h2>Course Masterplan<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Course Masterplan &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kewgolfclub.com.au\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Kew-Golf-Club_Golf-Course-Masterplan-2023-7-252-compressed.pdf\">HERE<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>COURSE CARE ETIQUETTE<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>Carry a sand bucket and replace divot holes with sand. Do not replace the detached divot.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Repair plug marks on the green<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Rake bunkers after use by pushing sand back over footprints. Please refrain from pulling sand towards the bunker&#8217;s edge<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Buggies may&nbsp;be walked across the greens<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Use rubbish bins to dispose of litter.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In addition, your cooperation is sought with the following safety requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>Give way to ground staff at all times<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Obey directional signage<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Divots<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Repairing Divots<br \/>\n<\/span>1. Always carry a sand bucket<br \/>\n2. Fill the divot with a generous amount of sand<br \/>\n3. Flatten the sand with your shoe.<\/p>\n<h3>Ball Marks<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Repairing Ball-Marks<br \/>\n<\/span>1. Always start at the back of the mark and push forward with the repairer.<br \/>\n2. Use repairer around all sides and slowly ease turf toward the centre of the mark. Do not lift the soil upwards.<br \/>\n3. Lightly tap down with putter.<\/p>\n<h3>Damage to Greens<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Flagsticks, Bags etc.<\/span><br \/>\nPlayers should ensure that, when putting down bags, or the flagstick, no damage is done to the putting green, and that neither they nor their caddies damage the hole by standing close to it in handling the flagstick or in removing the ball from the hole. The flagstick should be properly replaced in the hole before the players leave the putting green.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Handling the flag<br \/>\n<\/span>1. Don&#8217;t drop the flagstick on the putting surface as it&nbsp;may cause damage.<br \/>\n2. Always lower the flagstick gently<br \/>\n3. When finished putting place the flagstick in the centre of the cup, avoiding any damage to the edge of the hole.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Removing Ball<br \/>\n<\/span>NEVER use your&nbsp;putter to remove the ball from the hole.<\/p>\n<h3>Bunker Rake Policy<\/h3>\n<p>Before leaving a bunker, a player must carefully smooth all marks made. When leaving the bunker, rake sand with the flat side of the rake, pushing sand toward the centre of the bunker. Rakes are to be left inside the bunkers, facing the direction of play from the tee.(i.e. the rake head pointing toward the direction of the green)<\/p>\n<p>1. Always enter the bunker at the lowest point.<br \/>\n2. Pull rake toward you as you exit the bunker.<br \/>\n3. If required rake other affected areas.<br \/>\n4. Do not pile sand at the edge of the bunker.
